The Almighty Period: Standardization

There's a lack of standardization when it comes to tags and when or when not to use a period. I've listed some particular examples below, although there might be some missing.

My preference would be to...

• Not use a period for...
• #3 since as long as it's surrounded by underscores (spaces), it'll be clear that it's an initial so the period would be unnecessary
• #2,#4-8 since those 2-3 letter shorthands are pretty common and so the period wouldn't be necessary to clarify what they mean
• Use a period for...
• #1 since tags aren't capitalized, it's impossible to denote a tag is an acronym otherwise
• #9 since "no" can mean many things without the period, to include the Japanese の

Thoughts?

There's also the situation where a series' title has a full stop in the official Japanese title, which seems to have little to no consistancy.

Thus we have ano_hi_mita_hana_no_namae_wo_bokutachi_wa_mada_shiranai., yahari_ore_no_seishun_lovecome_wa_machigatteiru. and inari_konkon_koi_iroha. but ore_twintail_ni_narimasu, bakuman and kimi_no_na_wa. All six of these series have full stops at the end of their titles.

Good point, I noticed that as well, but wanted to handle English tags first. Since you brought it up though, I'd also be in favor of removing the period for that case since it adds nothing...
