That's what the whole Mokou vs Kaguya battle was about. Kaguya would basically reject everyone that proposed to her by giving them these, literally, impossible tasks. This included Mokou's father. Apparently in this doujin beating those trials means marrying Kaguya, and Mokou probably forgot after....a hell of a long time.
This made me think: if Mokou wants to redeem her family's honor shouldn't she be trying to succeed in the task that caused her father to lose it? The Fujiwaras were disgraced when her father failed to marry Kaguya, so if Mokou (a Fujiwara) marries her wouldn't that end the feud?
Y'know, I've heard all the stuff about Mokou's dad, and how she wants to kick Kaguya's ass for disgracing him, yada yada yada... But the one thing I don't think I've ever heard/read is why her father wanted to marry Kaguya in the first place, considering he has a daughter which means that (since this was like 800 years ago or something) he had to have already had a wife! Unless she died... If I was Mokou, I'd be pissed at him for either: a) cheating on her mon OR b) disrespecting her mother's memory by trying to remarry (if she did die).

Mokou's father was presumably Fujiwara no Fuhito, a powerful head of a noble house who had four wives (one was his half-sister), and eight children, at least one by each wife. Mokou was supposedly hidden away for some reason. In the fable, at any rate, his stand-in Prince Kuramochi is a "celebrated lover" who liked to chase tail. Also, Kaguya was desired throughout the realm, everyone knew of her and her legendary beauty; wooing her would cement one's reputation as a powerful man. Of course Kuramochi was humiliated like all the others, and he by his own attempt at deception. Presumably this failure deeply impacted him and in some way this passed on to Mokou (Kaguya is not entirely an innocent character).
In my thinking though if Mokou comes to possess Kaguya's presumably untouchable heart, her family will be redeemed since it would turn out that the Fujiwaras are good enough for Moon Princesses after all. She would only have to live in a mansion filled with servants, and be married to the most desired woman of all time forever.

I'm pretty sure that the start of the story is more along the lines of political correctness, where Mokou just wants to assert her superiority over Kaguya to avenge her father, instead of marrying her. But considering that they've been fighting for a few centuries, I don't think that's going to happen unless Mokou gets really REALLY lucky. But I do support the idea of Mokou x Kaguya; which is why I like all this guys stuff.
I know the conversation is quite old, but I'd like to add that Mokou said after winning that she "Captured" Kaguya's spell cards, basically managing to not time them out. The original Impossible Tasks were all related with obtaining a certain item (which Kaguya did at some point on her own, maybe out of boredom)...and since said items are in Kaguya's possession as her spellcards...well...
Yeah, Mokou basically captured Kaguya's Impossible Tasks and is now worthy of her hand. And that's not even considering the fact that Mokou got ALL the tasks when only one completed was required back in the day...
Oh my~
Things are really heating up~ ♥ Just be quiet and listen to what I have to say!Though this means that the princess is finally getting married~And what's the problem with that!?Ohhhhhh-!!
